SPRING COURSES

What would our world continue to be like if we did not seek to change perceptions, physical reality through sustainable living, and embrace connective spiritual growth? How do you want to make a change in the world?

Emergent Studies Institute¬†believes in supporting both technological innovation and our spiritual connection to each other and the Earth. Technology gives us the ability to connect around the world in seconds and access to the knowledge needed to bring about sustainable change on a global level. Connecting with Mother Earth… Getting in touch with ourselves within nature… These are the things that build inner growth and a sustained spiritual life; all necessary to step into a new paradigm.

General Class Information:

  • We encourage our community of students and faculty to work collaboratively, forging bonds and building bridges of global stewardship by directly applying their knowledge and course material to real world situations.
  • Classroom ratios are typically one instructor per fifteen students, which gives our students a more in-depth and personal experience with their instructor and classmates.
  • All courses are taught completely online through our learning platform (Google Classroom). ¬†On-the-ground courses are taught during On-the-Ground Intensives .
  • All instructors use Google Hangout for video group discussions once a week. ¬†Students may schedule one-on-one chats using Skype or Google Hangout with classmates, instructors, or administrators.
  • Students are expected to connect with instructors and each other at least once a week on the Google Classroom¬†learning platform, where they will submit any assignments and receive their grades.

Poem:

Imagination Is Born

The shaft of light in the darkness, becoming the spark in the mind: creativity is awakened.

Hands and hearts become enlivened as we strive to create the oneness we find in nature;

struggling to go beyond surviving into becoming.

Forming connections with others; until the spark becomes the fires that light the world with the dawning of perception, of what could be… and imagination is born.

Imagination is born from the seeds of the earth and watchful eyes: as we learn to mix and grind fruits, flowers, herbs learning the culinary arts of sensuous survival.

Imagination is born on flight: as we observe the birds soaring into the unknown and diving beneath the waves of limitless possibilities.

Imagination is born on the surface: as we paint on our bodies and earth’s hollows with the expressions of our hearts while singing to the moon of our mothers.

Imagination is born from roots threads: as we learn to weave our legends and truths into existence for our future.

Imagination is born as we learn how to move beyond survival into the light.

New Year’s Emergence…

AT EMERGENT STUDIES INSTITUTE …

All of our courses are taught online!

Golden Ratio EmergenceWe embrace the concept of Emergent Education, in the virtual classroom, to activate imaginations and engage in transformation.

This approach is a beautiful alternative to the patriarchal structure currently used in public education which employs linear thinking and utilizes pre-determined learning outcomes identified by those ‚Äėexperts‚Äô outside the classroom and established before students walk in the door regardless of their skills, background or interests. ¬†In addition, we utilize Emergent Curriculum which relies on the experts inside the classroom and educational organization to create courses that are relevant and powerful. We encourage and cultivate each individual teacher‚Äôs creativity, community co-creation and attentiveness to individual learners. Emergent curriculum activates teacher creativity and student learning for the benefit of all.

We believe both academic and practical training is built upon participants’ connection with Spirit.  It is this universal spirituality that connects us with ourselves and everyone around us. We all walk upon the path of Spirit, and just as the nautilus shell represents the soul’s journey, so do our graduates emerge with the understanding and commitment to build bridges in an ever-changing world.

Educational programs may include experiments in sustainability (permaculture, ecological housing, human animal relationships), youth projects, community arts projects, women’s and men’s spirituality, creativity and innovation and much more. Our programs are designed to be in-touch with the needs of students’ local communities, as well as recognizing our connection to a greater global society.

First Online Radio Show

Mic and Sound BoardGreetings Everyone,

What an amazing show on Inner Child Radio with William Peters. The online radio broadcast through BlogTalk,¬†featured our three Founding Mothers, Valentine, Lisa and Trace who had the pleasure of discussing the creation of ESI, it’s coursework, faculty, governance and future direction. The Founding Mothers also had the chance to talk about themselves, why they choose to be of service to others and some of their personal background.
Emergent Studies founders also officially launched their GoFundMe crowdsourcing campaign to raise money in the next few months prior to the Spring 2015 semester. The institute appreciates any amount of money a person feels they can donate and we have set-up a donation page that has more information about how to do so. We will also be posting again in detail about that campaign as well. In the mean time, please visit the Official GoFundMe website and check out the gifts we have to offer our donors at the various funding levels. Not only will you be able to enjoy the feeling of giving to an educational nonprofit, you will have a chance to receive (at higher levels of donation) a Class Pass, the chance to log on and experience one of our classes online in the spring (Class Passes are for one day and one class). The campaign features other gifts such as a personal email from one of our founders, t-shirts and everyone at the $20 level or higher will be featured on the website at their level of donation. You can also donate in the name of a company, foundation or individual. Visit the site at: www.gofundme.com/fundesi
