“That is the real spiritual awakening, when something emerges from within you that is deeper than who you thought you were. So, the person is still there, but one could almost say that something more powerful shines through the person.”
– Eckhart Tolle
At the Emergent Studies Institute, we believe that spirituality is the seed of growth that fills the soul with purpose, direction, and desire to make a positive difference in the world. As a spiritually-based institution, ESI is committed to facilitating self-development and spiritual growth through honoring the varying and diverse pathways to Spirit. We endeavor to address the whole person (body-mind-spirit), connecting or re-connecting individuals more fully with Spirit and Nature/Mother Earth by facilitating on-going growth through the application of transformative educational and spiritual principles from all over the globe.

The Spirituality Department is the heart of this transformation and embodies these practices. While the acquisition of knowledge is traditionally thought to exist solely within the realm of the mind, spiritually-based education and training has been proven to enhance mental faculties through meditation, to strengthen the body through personal well-being, and to allow individuals to delve more deeply into their essence. Through Spirit/God, all things are possible (derived from Matthew 19:26). Our well-rounded Spirituality certificate and specializations employ experiential learning to draw upon core truths from Eastern, Western, and Indigenous spiritual and cultural sources to provide a balanced education.
We offer specializations in a variety of topics, including contemplative studies, spiritual activism, earth-centered spirituality, shamanic studies, spiritually-based sustainability, and much more. Specializations are based upon the electives a student takes within the certification program. All of our certification courses are structured in this way.
“We are each a unique light within the cosmic tapestry of our soul’s journey.”
~Rev. L.A. Evert-Raeyne
