“Unlike scientism, science in the true sense of the word
is open to unbiased investigation of any existing phenomena.”
– Stanislav Grof
Emergent Studies Institute supports conscientious, collaborative and open-minded research in broad new fields of academia, science, spirituality, holistic healing, transpersonal and humanistic psychology, leadership, gender studies, paranormal studies, altered states of consciousness, ecological sustainability, spiritual ecology, and planetary stewardship.
ESI researchers employ a variety of research methods, respecting the importance of qualitative and blended studies, as well as honoring the validity of personal stories. We also encourage research into more familiar quantitative methods, using cutting edge technology and equipment to allow students and faculty to collect accurate data which they can then share with their greater community and the world.
Emergent encourages students and faculty to showcase their exciting discoveries for classmates, colleagues, and the general public at our own conferences and On-the-Ground Intensives. ESI publishes our researchers’ findings in an annual anthology. Copies are available for a small donation on the ESI website.
We also facilitate faculty, staff and student presentations at other conferences in both domestic and global venues such as the annual South by Southwest (SXSW) conference in Austin and the varying locations of the biannual conferences of the European Transpersonal Association (EUROTAS). We are always interested in and open to collaboration with like-minded partners committed to building a global community.
