Milestone at ESI, First Day of Courses!

Greetings Fellow Seekers!

Emergent Studies Institute and Haven International and extremely excited to announce a milestone for our program and and warm congratulations to all of our new students for being a part of it.

Sunset_Yoga_MexicoESI began as a vision or dream you could say after a time of trouble, grief and heartache for many individuals in the Transpersonal community. The Institute of Transpersonal Psychology was closing it’s doors for good, Sofia University was now firmly rooted in place as a corporate-run alternative and many if not all of our beloved faculty, administration, alumni and at that time fellow students were scattered to the winds. However, out of this tragedy a few individuals, Rev. Lisa Evert-Raeyne, MATP, Trace Whitley, MATP and a few others envisioned something different. We wanted to create an institution that was inclusive to faculty opinion, co-creation and governance. We wanted to allow students to engage in courses more intimately with their fellow students and faculty in an online setting that many of institutions are lacking. Finally, we wanted to focus on ideas, themes and course content that emerged out of the current 21st Century paradigm. Ideas, disciplines and passions that needed to be cultivated through faculty and student interaction. These ended up being some of the core concepts of ESI such as Leadership, Women’s Spirituality, Creativity, Eco-Sustainability, Spiritual Activism/Social Justice and most importantly, Community. We felt that these and other themes and ideas resonated with the seekers out in the world looking for a place that could hold sacred a community created from love, passion and interest and that is what we are able to do today!

Monday, February 8th, marks this milestone for ESI!

We start our courses proudly this day knowing that it will only be the first of many courses, terms and years of service, commitment and love for our mission and community of seekers. We cannot wait to begin this journey with you all and hope to see many more faces in the future. Thank you again for being a part of this amazing beginning.

Sincerely,

Trace Whitley, MATP

Poem:

Imagination Is Born

The shaft of light in the darkness, becoming the spark in the mind: creativity is awakened.

Hands and hearts become enlivened as we strive to create the oneness we find in nature;

struggling to go beyond surviving into becoming.

Forming connections with others; until the spark becomes the fires that light the world with the dawning of perception, of what could be… and imagination is born.

Imagination is born from the seeds of the earth and watchful eyes: as we learn to mix and grind fruits, flowers, herbs learning the culinary arts of sensuous survival.

Imagination is born on flight: as we observe the birds soaring into the unknown and diving beneath the waves of limitless possibilities.

Imagination is born on the surface: as we paint on our bodies and earth’s hollows with the expressions of our hearts while singing to the moon of our mothers.

Imagination is born from roots threads: as we learn to weave our legends and truths into existence for our future.

Imagination is born as we learn how to move beyond survival into the light.

Mystic Art Medicine – Guardians

Cosmic Connections Guardians Oracle Card.jpg

A dance to heal it all… Repair the fall…Cosmic Connections… Mirror Reflections Copper metal crease, spin the void… Release Taken to the stars and out beyond, to the Guardians Ancient Symbols speak it seems… We awaken from the dream. – Cher Lyn

The Beings in the painting of “Cosmic Connections” are Apache Dancers in ceremonial spirit. Glowing symbols are floating and spinning, emerging out of the vortex and off the dancers’ bodies themselves. They are the embodiment of our star brothers who watch over us. The blue flowers are from a dream time journey into another dimension on another planet, the star brother holds them as a gift he brings from home. The others hold curative tools of power from other worlds, gifts to channel and aid.

There is more to sight than just physical seeing. Human sight creates it’s own obstacles. We stop seeing where the general consensus says we should. There is much more to this dimension than meets the eye. We are often if not always being watched by beings that we ourselves cannot see with our naked eye.

The Guardians are here to support you in a number of ways, to include bringing you power to connect to multi-dimensional realities, “comprehended”. You are ancient, wise, and awake. Take notice of your imagination expanding and maturing. The Guardians are opening your vision to help you remember why you embarked upon your journey here on Earth. Communication of thoughts and feelings in your heart give fresh insights. Your higher knowledge becomes easily accessible as you let go of any fear or preconceived ideas of how limited you thought you were. Surrender into your highest good and relax into the vastness of Creation.

There seems to be something secret about everything and everybody, a mystery to behold within your perception. What you see in everyday life is not the natural world deceiving you, but nature encoding reality in ways you can come to terms with. The natural world looks the way it looks because of the way you have been taught.

If you’ve chosen Guardians study the ancient symbols of the Star Glyphs, the images of the crop circles. Place your attention upon the stars at night, and spend quality time in meditation exploring the Universal void inside your own soul. The Guardians are ready to telepathically assist you.

Wild Wood Tarot – The Seer

The SeerThe Seer - Wild Wood Deck.jpg

Position on the Wheel

The Seer is at the hub of the Wheel in the quarter related to Water and emotions and linked to the mysteries of the Moon and the Earth. She is partnered with the Shaman and acts as a guide to the World Tree.

As the close this day we look to The Seer for guidance to begin again tomorrow. Inspiration, Wisdom even Divination are some of the keywords you can draw from when working with this card. This is also the card of Shamanic Flight, Soul Healing and empathy with nature.

When looking at this card I do feel like it is the consort in every equal way with the Shaman in the Wild Wood deck. I feel in this picture that The Seer is a female Shaman calling forth her mysteries and visions from beyond.

It is time to feel with your inner knowing, potentially your woman’s intuition. That divine feminine or masculine knowing past reason or logic. Is there an issue that you still, beyond logical thought do not know how to handle? Is there an issue in your life that cannot be solved through reason? This card is letting you know that you must look within, not without for those answers.

This could also be a card for a Nature/Spirit connection. It could be insisting that you need to re-establish a dialogue with nature and the Spirit that resides within it and within us.

At Emergent Studies Institute we strive to help you develop deeper connections with Spirit, the Divine or with yourself. New Years Resolution

woman-on-path1

Finding Your Path…

This time of year there are so many people out their making New Years Resolutions. They are engaging in the act of bettering themselves or potentially a group of people, their community by making a vow. This vow could be an end or a beginning, but the one thing that brings us all together in our resolutions is change.

The act of creating a New Years Resolution has become common place. In fact Wikipedia defines it as a”tradition most common in the Western Hemisphere but also found in the Eastern Hemisphere, in which a person makes a promise to do an act of self-improvement or something slightly nice, such as opening doors for people beginning from New Year’s Day.” – (Wikipedia, New Years Resolution)

At Emergent Studies Institute we are focused on change, transformation and self-actualization. We want to help our students meet their goals, expectations and even resolutions. We offer courses that help expand Creativity and Innovation, develop a deeper connection with Spirit through Emergent Spirituality, learn how to heal yourself and aid others in Holistic Healing or find out how to become a better steward of the Earth through Eco-Sustainability.

We also offer Enrichment Courses, classes that anyone can take regardless of their educational background. This coursework covers many topics as well if you are interested in Women’s Studies, Mothering, Dancing the Sacred Wheel, connecting with Creativity, delving more deeply into the Supernatural, and many more. Be sure to check out our course catalog, find out more about our faculty and speak with an Enrollment Counselor today about your interest in our institute or how to take a course. Title: Human-Animal Relationships in Cross-Cultural Perspective

Instructor: Drucilla Pettibone, M.A.

Course Description: The plight of non-human animals is one of the greatest challenges the 21st century, a time that has been called the 6th age of mass extinction and the Anthropocene.  Yet as many of us re-vision a society that takes the welfare of all beings seriously, well-intentioned humans continue to divide on ideological grounds when it comes to our animal companions.  In this course, we will explore humane education beginning with ourselves.

We will create a unique space for constructive discourse across political views, where vegans and hunters, rewilders and conservationists, animal breeders and rescuers, can share openly with each other.  We will pay particular attention to how culture, class, and religion shape our views, and even our very definitions of animal and human.

Students will have opportunities to conduct research related to their own interests.  This course will benefit anyone who works in animal-related fields such as advocacy, farming, policy-making, and law enforcement, as well as everyone who loves animals and hopes to make the Earth a home for all.

Instructor: Kristen Calvert

Course Description: Through Creative Inquiry, historical evidence and hands on art projects we will explore how some of the early origins of culture were formed through our interpretations of ourselves and our environments.  In particular we will explore ancient women’s creative contributions to early societies.

Poem:

Imagination Is Born

The shaft of light in the darkness, becoming the spark in the mind: creativity is awakened.

Hands and hearts become enlivened as we strive to create the oneness we find in nature;

struggling to go beyond surviving into becoming.

Forming connections with others; until the spark becomes the fires that light the world with the dawning of perception, of what could be…and imagination is born.

Imagination is born from the seeds of the earth and watchful eyes: as we learn to mix and grind fruits flowers, herbs learning the culinary arts of sensuous survival.

Imagination is born on flight: as we observe the birds soaring into the unknown and diving beneath the waves of limitless possibilities.

Imagination is born on the surface: as we paint on our bodies and earths hollows with the expressions of our hearts while singing to the moon of our mothers.

Imagination is born from roots threads: as we learn to weave our legends and truths into existence for our future.

Imagination is born as we learn how to move beyond survival into the light.
